Save money, reduce carbon footprint

The City of San Jose’s Environmental Services Department just launched its first Better Buildings Challenge (BBC), a one-year initiative focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the building sector.
As part of the BBC, building participants can choose to complete two of three actions to reduce their carbon footprint:
Complete an energy or water-related capital improvement or retro-commissioning project
Sign up for San José Clean Energy’s Total Green option (which relies on 100% renewable energy
Launch a behavior change campaign that targets reductions from energy or transportation activity.
In addition to reducing the corporate carbon footprint, joining the BBC is a great opportunity for building owners and occupants to potentially save money, improve their building’s bottom line, achieve early compliance with the Building Performance Ordinance and become sustainability leaders in the community. Participants will receive City staff support, free training workshops and educational resources, and receive special recognition from the City of San José. We are currently recruiting large commercial, educational and public sector buildings to participate in the BBC.
