In the world of cutting-edge biotechnology, Procept Biorobotics has been making waves with its groundbreaking approach to treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), the most common form of prostate disease. The company’s growth and need for more space spurred their move from Redwood City to North San José. The move signifies a substantial expansion for the company, with the new location boasting an impressive 158,000 square feet for its 450 employees, tripling their previous footprint.

Procept Biorobotics cut the ribbon to its new high-tech testing and production facility at 150 Baytech Drive on September 20 in front of hundreds of employees and with the assistance of Mayor Matt Mahan and District Councilmember David Cohen. San José’s Office of Economic Development and Cultural Affairs (OEDCA) assisted Procept Biorobotics in the months before its move, providing relocation support, development and permit facilitation, and connecting Procept Biorobotics to available financial incentives. This synergy between the Procept Biorobotics and OEDCA underscores the City’s commitment to fostering innovation and growth within the region.

Procept Biorobotics now shares the 150-180 Baytech Drive campus with Auris Health, a Johnson & Johnson company, which leased significant square footage there in 2021. Procept Biorobotics joins other medical device companies located in San José like Lumenis Inc., Outset Medical, Roche Molecular Systems, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and WellSIM Biomedical Technologies. The addition of a medical robotics technology company strengthens North San José’s reputation as a high-tech hub and confirms the desire for companies to be in San José.

One in five residents of San José holds a STEM bachelor's degree, making it an ideal location for Procept Biorobotics to tap into a diverse and highly qualified talent pool. The proximity of the new location to many employees' homes will also save time and commuting costs. This not only enhances employee satisfaction but also contributes to a more sustainable work environment.

As Procept Biorobotics takes this big step forward, it's clear that their relocation to San José is more than just a change of address. It's a strategic move towards growth and innovation in the heart of Silicon Valley. With a larger space, continued support from the City, and access to a talent-rich environment, the future is promising for this pioneering biotechnology company in the heart of Silicon Valley.
