San Jose Sister City Delegation Visit to Dublin - 2008
Led by Councilmembers Nancy Pyle and Forrest Williams, a 17-member delegation from San Jose made an official sister city visit to Dublin, Ireland July 21-24, 2008.
To celebrate the Sister City affiliation, which was established in 1986, and enhance the city relationship, the Dublin Lord Mayor leads an official delegation to San Jose each March and a San Jose delegation visits Dublin every two-years.
The San Jose Sister City delegation is grateful for the superb work of our hosts, the Dublin City Council and their partners, including Trinity College, Dublin Tourism and the Dublin Chamber of Commerce. Highlights of the Sister City visit included:

Dublin Lord Mayor and Delegation Visit to San Jose
Dublin Lord Mayor Paddy Bourke and Sister City delegation made an official visit to San Jose March 6-11, 2008. Lord Mayor Bourke was accompanied by Lady Mayoress Margaret Bourke, Councillors Mary Freehill and Charlie Ardagh and his wife Catherine Kelly, City Manager John Tierney and his wife Sadie, and Vincent Norton of the City Manager's Office.
The delegation also included Margaret Sweeney, the President of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce, and Gina Quin, the Chamber's CEO; Frank Magee, President of Dublin Tourism; and Dr. Jennifer Edmond of Trinity College.
Events included a welcome breakfast sponsored by the San Jose-Dublin Sister City Commitee, City Hall flag raising ceremony, luncheon hosted by the Sister City Committee, and the Annual Spirit of Ireland Dinner honoring John Hannigan the 2008 recipient.

The City of San Jose and the San Jose-Dublin Sister City
Committee hosted a visit by Lord Mayor Catherine Byrne and
members of the Dublin community March 10-15 to mark the 20th
anniversary of the sister city relationship.. San Jose and
Dublin established a sister city relationship in 1986 and
the Lord Mayor visits San Jose each year to celebrate the
sister city relationship and mark the start of "Irish Week"
festivities in San Jose.
