BusinessOwnerSpace.comDowntown San Jose at Night

San Jose has a long history of nurturing entrepreneurs—who come here from all over the world—to form startups and small businesses that have the potential to become leading global brands.  San Jose recognizes this and has developed initiatives to further allow business startups to grow and scale. One resource this is available to you now, 24/7 is BusinessOwnerSpace.com (BOS).

Established to be San Jose-Silicon Valley’s most accessible, comprehensive, and useful one-stop resource for launching and growing a business in the greater San Jose metropolitan area, BOS is comprised of a collaborative partnership among more than two dozen public, private, and non-profit agencies and businesses—all pursuing the same goal:  to help new and small business owners and entrepreneurs achieve success.

Since launching October 2007, BOS has served over 80,000 entrepreneurs and businesses by helping with their startup and growth needs and strategies, ensuring that the local economy remain vibrant and businesses have the opportunity to thrive.

BOS was designed with ease-of-use in mind and provides access to entrepreneurs and small businesses allowing them to look for services and information as it best serves their time.  The more than 30 collaborative partners have a concise description of their services, among them business planning and technical assistance, hiring and human resource assistance, access to capital information and permitting and regulatory assistance, and links to necessary follow up contact information.  BOS is also available in Spanish and Vietnamese.

Among the tools available through BOS include:

  • Assess whether you are ready to start a business
  • Identify and follow the appropriate steps to launching and growing a business
  • Connect with local business services that can support you through this process
  • Stay abreast of news you can use to better ensure your chances of success
  • Participate in small business events such as mixers, workshops, and seminars offered by BOS partners
