The City of San Jose's Office of Economic Development (OED) is committed to a vital, competitive San Jose economy that increases prosperity for people and companies and enhances City revenues.
The Office guides the City's economic strategy, provides assistance for business success, helps connect employers with trained workers, and provides Art and Cultural resources to our community. Our four core services:
- Economic Strategy and Information: OED develops and guides implementation of the City's economic strategy and provides economic information to support decision making.
- Assistance for Business: OED promotes business success by providing services and information for small businesses and entrepreneurial growth companies, as well as large established companies.
- Workforce Development: OED manages work2future which provides workforce development services to businesses and job seekers in San Jose and south Santa Clara County. Work2future's One-Stop System brings under one roof a multitude of pre-paid employment resources for both job seekers and employers.
- Art and Culture: The Office of Cultural Affairs, a division of the Office of Economic Development, has the responsibility of supporting, promoting, developing the Arts in San Jose

Economic Strategy – The 2010 Economic Strategy establishes a vision for how San Jose can excel economically and how the City and its partners can work together to achieve the vision. It includes clarification of the community's goals, fact-based assessment of the community's distinctive advantages, its vulnerabilities existing economic base, and external competition and trends.
