San Jose is the largest city in Silicon Valley, the largest city in Northern California, and the 10th largest city in the nation.  In the past 60 years, San Jose grew exponentially with Silicon Valley’s high-tech success, from less than 100,000 residents in 1950 to more than 1 million today.

San Jose offers an extraordinarily entrepreneurial environment where people from all walks of life start and grow companies, and achieve their dreams. San Jose is consistently ranked as the world’s leading innovation center (“World’s Most Competitive Innovation Economy” World Knowledge Competitiveness Index, “America’s Most Innovative City” Forbes , “Pre-eminent High-tech Cluster in the World” Milken Institute).

San Jose is an epicenter for creativity and innovation--is unmatched for  technical and entrepreneurial talent, for technology depth and breadth. San Jose ranks #1 nationally in patents held by residents and is #1 in the nation for venture capital investors and investment, with more than 500 venture capital and private equity firms.

As America’s most international city, San Jose is a global gateway for leading businesses and talent from around the world.  San Jose has the largest share of population born in another country (34%) of any U.S. city and  ranked first in nation in new immigrants—10% of residents have arrived in U.S. since 2000.
