Effective January 1, 2008 all request for hiring tax credit vouchers must be submitted on the new State Voucher Application form. The new Voucher Application replaces the San Jose Enterprise Zone Pre-screening Questionnaire. Click here for a copy of the new Voucher Application.
NEW TEA CHANGES COMING SOON
On September 7,2007, the Department of Housing and Community
Development released the application for new Targeted Employment
Areas (TEA). Recent legislation AB 1550 requires all Enterprise
Zones that obtained a TEA prior to the availability of the
2000 US census data, to update their TEA boundaries. San Jose
has submitted an application to the state and is waiting for
final approval. The State TEA authorization is expected in
early 2008. New TEA address ranges and maps are not available
at this time. In the meantime, the State will allow businesses
to continue using the current TEA
street addresses and map until
the new TEA is approved.
San Jose Receives a New 15-Year Enterprise Zone Designation
On November 3rd, Governor Schwarzenegger announced the conditional
designation of San Jose and 22 other California Enterprise
Zones. San Jose’s new Enterprise Zone becomes effective
on January 1, 2007. The proposed smaller EZ area will cover
ten square miles, overlapping the current Enterprise Zone.
Authorization of the new EZ boundaries are expected to be
completed by the state in December 2006 and official EZ maps
and street ranges will be available at that time.
